Expansion is the first track in Adecentros Vol. I
Expansion is Michael Adeniken’s first track in the album titled Adecentros Vol. I. He enters the world of electronic music after being a Classical Pianist and Composer. This is the first in a series of interviews about his new album.
Alexandria Burns: Good to see you. What is Adecentros Vol. I, and why did you decide to start making electronic music?
Michael Adeniken: Thanks for having me Alex. Adecentros is my producer name for electronic music. I felt I needed a new alisas, like a DJ name because this music was going to be all sound and minimal voice. I brainstormed different names and Adecentros just stuck with me. As for why: electronic music. After years of classical music, my art needed a revamp. I was missing something in my pure expression. The multitude of sounds that a computer can create, I gravitated to it.
Alexandria Burns: Can you give us your take on Expansion?
Michael Adeniken: I knew I had something from the jump. The opening sounds bring you into a fantasy world; to the stars and beyond. I couple those sounds with the most awesome running synths, like they’re bouncing around in your head trying to escape. Just when you think nothing else can happen; I hit you with the flutes, for a calming effect to the running synths. All the while a background hip-hop beat gives you a base to stay planted. More sounds appear as I try to center you with an orchestra, only for a moment’s breath. then goes the even heavy star synths. Making you realize the depth of every sound you hear. I bring it back to the basics, then hit you with some Vox to take you through the middle of the track. Even bring back the flute’s and orchestra to show the sounds once again. And then the running synths and finally the closing with the flute’s and world percussions’.
Alexandria Burns: You seem to reference quite a bit of classical sounds in the track. How did your background influence the track?
Michael Adeniken: It’s very easy to denote that classical music is my framework. Just because I’m in this new genre, doesn’t mean I am forgoing everything I know. As a composer, I have the unique advantage of being able to put sounds together to make melodies. And it just so happens these melodies don’t come from single notes, but complex sounds.
Alexandria Burns: What is the listener going to take away from this track?
Michael Adeniken: The name says it all; Expansion. If you know me from classical music, then you’ll understand this track even more. If you don’t, my goal remains the same; give the listener something they have never heard before. Expand their mind.
Alexandria Burns: Thank you for your time, I look forward to talking about the rest of your tracks on your new album.
Michael Adeniken: Thanks Alex.
